Dynamic response of the SXI Shutter Mechanism was performed to evaluate fastener loads and material strength margins under applied random vibration loads representing launch.  Pretensioned hold-down, soft release actuator, motor and gearbox for in-orbit door operation were modelled in detail and analysis results used to confirm component margins.  Vibration test results were used to confirm the model quality and the checked FEM model built into the assembled instrument FEM.
