Launch Adapter Development & Optimisation

Space Acoustics supported the development of a satellite payload adapter designed to carry six auxiliary small payloads beneath a main payload.

The work focused mainly on systems engineering, including the preparation and trade-off of technical requirements from launcher level through to the adapter's design configuration and mechanical performance.

Analysis of around 20 competing concepts in strength, mass, stiffness, dynamics and manufacturing lead to selection of a preferred concept which was developed in detail. Space Acoustics supported the advanced composites materials used in the manufacture of the full-scale A6 size demonstrator and component parts.
